The counterpart to this is the intralogistics software we developed. It manages and plans the processes carried out by the robots. It knows where each material is located, when and where it needs to be made available, and plans the necessary transports and warehouse movements accordingly. Robotics Software Engineer: Autonomous Mobile Robots (m/f/d)
Pikes develops AMRs for intralogistics and is currently moving its product into series production. With us, you’ll work directly on the mobile robot: developing perception, navigation, and localization; integrating sensors; and testing on the shop floor. We’re not looking for entry-level candidates, but rather a developer with hands-on robotics experience.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop our own navigation and localization solution: path planning, obstacle avoidance, vSLAM.
- Object recognition and position determination of load carriers and obstacles.
- Integrate sensors: cameras, LiDAR, IMU, safety scanners. Set up sensor fusion.
- Implement robust error handling and recovery strategies.
- Test on the actual vehicle, analyze errors, and contribute to
What You Need to Bring to the Table: Essential Criteria
- Degree in computer science, robotics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in robotics, AGVs, autonomous vehicles, or a related field.
- Solid knowledge of C++ and Python.
Practical experience with ROS 2: Lifecycle Nodes, Actions, launch systems, and tf2. - Experience in navigation and localization: developed your own solutions, not just configured frameworks.
- Knowledge of computer vision: object recognition, pose estimation, camera calibration.
- Proficiency with Linux as a development and target system.
- Natural use of AI tools in the development process.
- Ability to deploy and debug software on a real robot.
Preferred Criteria
- Experience with Foxglove or similar tools for visualizing and analyzing robotics data.
- Experience with vSLAM and visual odometry.
- Knowledge of fieldbus protocols (CAN bus, EtherCAT).
- Experience with safety standards (EN ISO 3691-4, EN ISO 13849).
- Knowledge of fleet management / multi-robot coordination.
